<p>If you have one of our <a class="fr-strong" href="https://nomadgoods.com/collections/metal-bands" id="isPasted" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Metal Bands</a>, you may need to add or remove links to get the perfect fit on your wrist. In this guide, we&#x2019;ll walk you through adjusting your band and share some helpful upkeep tips to keep it looking and performing its best.</p><p>Before we get started, let&apos;s go over some basics.</p><ul><li style="font-size: 16px;">The first three links attached to the band&apos;s lug, shown in the red boxes in the image below, are uniquely shaped and must stay in place. <strong>Do not remove these first three links</strong>.&#xA0;</li><li style="font-size: 16px;">When adding or removing links, be sure to <strong>add and remove an equal number of links from each side of the band</strong>. This will ensure the band centers your Apple Watch on your wrist.&#xA0;<img src="https://attachments.gorgias.help/8X1Bk7dJpJ6KgRm0/hc/z8QbV2PYLe7ogePy/2024110421-4b9c242f-cd99-432b-b7ce-d7c1433ff2f4-screenshot%202024-11-04%20at%201.29.44%E2%80%AFpm.png" style="width: 300px;" class="fr-fic fr-dib"></li></ul><h3 id="removing-links-from-your-metal-band">Removing links from your Metal Band</h3><ol><li style="font-size: 16px;">Open the box and remove the metal adjustment tool from the bottom compartment.&#xA0;</li><li style="font-size: 16px;">Underneath the foam holding the Metal Band, you&apos;ll find a card with instructions. Keep this handy!</li><li style="font-size: 16px;">Make sure your band is level on the tool, then line up the hole on the link you want to remove with the pin on the tool.&#xA0;</li><li style="font-size: 16px;">Turn the wheel clockwise to move the needle into the link pinhole. Continue turning until the needle is fully inserted in the link.&#xA0;</li><li style="font-size: 16px;">The pin will be exposed on the opposite side of the tool. Remove the pin by hand.&#xA0;</li><li style="font-size: 16px;">Turn the pin counterclockwise to remove the needle from the link.&#xA0;</li><li style="font-size: 16px;">Separate the link from the rest of the band. Take care to set aside the small tube that falls out of the link. It will be used to reassemble the link.&#xA0;</li><li style="font-size: 16px;">Repeat these steps until you get the desired length.&#xA0;</li></ol><h3 id="reassembling-your-metal-band">Reassembling your Metal Band</h3><ol><li style="font-size: 16px;">Insert the small tube into the link.</li><li style="font-size: 16px;">Line up the two halves of the band so they fit into each other.&#xA0;</li><li style="font-size: 16px;">Insert the pin through the links as far as you can by hand.&#xA0;</li><li style="font-size: 16px;">Turn the wheel counterclockwise until there is enough room to put the silver cap over the needle.&#xA0;</li><li style="font-size: 16px;">With the pin inserted, lay your band level on the tool.&#xA0;</li><li style="font-size: 16px;">Line the cap up with the pin and turn the wheel clockwise to push the pin back to the link. For tougher stains, gently buff them with a Magic Eraser.</p><p>To extend the life of your buckle, keep it completely dry&#x2014;especially after any saltwater exposure. Rinse with fresh water, then air dry to help maintain the buckle&#x2019;s performance. While the band is water-resistant, moisture or debris buildup may still impact the buckle over time. The tool should go in about 2mm.&#xA0;</li><li style="font-size: 16px;">Gently pop the FKM link out to separate it from the metal link. This will split your band into two pieces at the link you just removed.</li><li style="font-size: 16px;">Repeat Steps 1 and 2 until you&apos;ve taken out enough links for the right fit. Be sure to remove the same number of links from each side of the band for a balanced look.&#xA0;</li><li style="font-size: 16px;">Align the spring bar on the FKM link with the hole in the metal link. Using the back of the adjustment tool, press the opposite side of the spring bar and push the FKM link to place until you hear it snap into position.&#xA0;</li></ol><p>To micro-adjust the buckle, follow the steps below.&#xA0;</p><ol><li><span style="font-size: 16px;">Insert the adjustment tool into the top hole of the link attached to the buckle until the buckle pops out.&#xA0;</span></li><li><span style="font-size: 16px;">Use the backside of the adjustment tool to remove the spring bar from the hole closest to the buckle. &#xA0;</span></li><li><span style="font-size: 16px;">Remove the spring bar from the hole closest to the buckle, then slide it into the first hole furthest from the buckle.&#xA0;</span></li><li style="font-size: 16px;" id="isPasted">Align the spring bar on the FKM link with the hole in the metal link. Using the back of the adjustment tool, press the opposite side of the spring bar and push the FKM link to place until you hear it snap into position.</li></ol><p>Note, when micro-adjusting your Stratos Band&apos;a buckle, you&apos;ll notice a slightly larger gap that shows a bit of titanium. Note, even if the lug latch is slightly scratched from your first installation attempt, it should still lock securely into your Apple Watch.</p><h2 id="cleaning-tips">Cleaning Tips</h2><p>To clean your Stratos Band, simply wipe it with a damp cloth. For tougher stains, gently buff them with a Magic Eraser.</p><p>To extend the life of your band, keep it completely dry&#x2014;especially after any saltwater exposure. Rinse with fresh water, then air dry to help maintain the buckle&#x2019;s performance.
